In her grand theory, the Human-to-Human Relationship, Travelbee ( 1971 ) writes: "Every human being suffers because he is a human being, and suffering is an intrinsic aspect of the human condition" (p 61).
In travelbee's theory, she stated that nurses must help sick persons, especially those who are terminally ill and those that are dying, to accept their sickness and suffering as a self-actualizing experience and find meaning behind those suffering.
